What's the 'Dan Band'???

I was flipping through channels and came across a concert on Bravo by Dan Finnerty and the Dan Band. It's a large man dressed as a gas station worker and two guys in suits and sunglasses singing and dancing back up as they perform female empowerment songs. So far they've done 'Total Eclipse of the Heart,' 'Ring My Bell,' 'Genie in a Bottle,' and 'Nasty Boys.' They're actually pretty good! Has anyone else ever heard of them???

Aha! I've found their website The Dan Band (http://www.bravotv.com/Dan_Band/) This is the 'I Am Woman' tour. I'm quite enjoying them!

I saw that recently too and was thoroughly confused as to what level of irony was supposed to be applied. With all this "reality" programming running rampant in a "wink-wink, nudge-nudge" cultural environment that somehow manages to take certain inflatable pop stars seriously it can be darn near impossible to ascertain if one is in on the joke or the butt of it when ambushed in the context-free expanses of channel surfing. Maybe it is safer that I only encounter cable at other peoples' houses.
