Enjoyed watching the Men's Figure Skating event on
defenestrator's new HD TV. Results were quite a surprise as was the selection choices of the US World team.
What a nice surprise to see Jeremy Abbott do so well! Although he is a bit of a goofball in how he plays to the camera, I suspect that the USFSA will have a little talk with him about representing the USA to the world (not that Johnny Weir listened to them either). Alas, Johnny Weir basically imploded and had he withdrawn rather than skated, he might still have made the World team. Kudos to Brandon Mroz who skated a very mature program for someone so new to the Senior events. It was nice to see Parker Pennington and Ryan Bradley do as well as they did. Evan Lysacek did not skate clean and since the men's field is so deep, he's lucky that he stayed on the podium. I prefer Johnny's skating to Evan's, but I can see why he was selected for the Worlds, given Johnny's actual performance and his rocky history with the USFSA (which is too bad). It was a good night of skating and I look forward to catching up watching the other events.
