And so it begins...

Why does traveling make one so tired? All I did yesterday was spend a few hours in a car and on a plane and a lot of waiting around. But after a short walk from the hotel to the Peachtree mall food court for a quick meal, I came back and crashed out for the night. I was asleep by 10:30 (which is unheard of for me). I'm now up with the dawn (another rare event). It could be that I am unconsciously resting up in anticipation of the exhaustion that is to come. Well, the conference starts at 8:00am and goes until 5:00pm today, after which I have to attend a meeting of the Association of Neuroscience Departments and Programs until 7:30pm.

I spent an hour last night creating my itinerary from the searchable database only to discover at the end that my computer does not have the software to convert it to a printable format. Sigh. I'm hoping that they will have some way to do this at the convention center, else I'll simply wander around until I see something interesting. And with several thousand posters and talks each session, plus exhibits, there is likely to be something to see.

Ok, time to go to work...

I miss you, honey. I still have a rotten code in my dose *sniffle*

I'm glad you arrived safely.

Tell my potential next homecity I said hello. Remind it I'll be visiting in December to check out the homecity potentialness. ;)

Try uploading your itinerary to the web-based version of the database. The print options on the web interface are much better then the ones in the downloaded/cd-based application. You can then save and edit the resulting html page in word or any similar program.

I spent much of last night, until the point that my eyes hurt, reading through the database listings of presentations, and I only got through Sunday's listings. By the way, I'm presenting my poster tomorrow from 9-10am at board MM56, please feel free to stop by and see just how much of a morning person I am not.

Wha? No print-to-PDF capability? Aren't there free print-to-PDF drivers one can download?

My Mac has had built-in print-to-PDF for years now... ;-)

Miss you, too, Hon. I'm typing from my room with my shoes off, taking a break from the madness before the evening meeting. Feel better soon! ((Warm hugs))

It looks like it could be good place to live although there seems to be a lot of sprawl. I saw loads of roadways under construction from the air. Looks like they have a public transit system that actually works, though.

I went to the Viewing Room at the conference this morning and they sorted it all out for me. The problems are due to the poor interface with the Mac. I'll definitely stop by your poster (you'll be there for most of the time, right? You know that those hour long slots are not at all adhered to).

It turned out to be due to their poor interface with the Mac. They have a proprietary searchable database that one must either use on their website or download. It turned out that their download for the Mac only allowed an export to a .csv document that could not then be read by Excel. They apologized when I went to the help desk at the conference this morning and sorted it all out for me.

I'll be there, and I'll be trying my best to stay awake. I'm staying on my cousin's couch, so I've been less then fully rested.

kitties

the cats are good. Sawyer let me brush him. Chester pawed my legs while I was getting out food. they both seemed happy.

Yay! Sawyer loves being brushed but is often wary of having new people do it. Chester has started pawing my leg when food is being delivered, too. Thank you so much for looking after them!
