ashes

I picked up my cat's ashes today from the Vet and plan to keep them until the ground softens enough for me to put them in the backyard under the lilacs. The Vet staff introduced me to a stray cat that they had been checking out, that they just received permission to place. He was a real sweetie - a black and white longhair with green eyes and a very sweet personality. It was clear that he had not been a stray for long, but the County has not been able to locate an owner. Anyway, they thought of me right away as someone who might be interested in adopting him. I am very flattered. Also, one of my colleagues had asked me if I wanted to adopt her stray cat, who doesn't play well with her other cats. And puzzld1 took me to Kitty Cottage last night, which is a no kill shelter with "free range" kitties lounging about in the various rooms, rather than being held in cages. It had amazingly good energy about the place and there were some very cute kitties there. I know that I'm not ready for another cat just yet (and I am seriously thinking about getting two), but I am very flattered that people are thinking of me when they are thinking of placing cats :-) It is good to know that there are cute kitties in the world!
