Labor on the House Day
Sep. 5th, 2005 07:58 pmFor those of you who were wondering if I'd really do it, I spent several hours this afternoon painting the molding in the stairway with the help of the Indigo Girls. I decided to repaint it the yellow cream color that I have on the molding downstairs. It looks a lot better against the chocolate brown carpet than the peach color did. It was a bit nerve wracking since I had to keep the cat away and avoid painting the carpet which runs up the stairs. I explained to Duncan (the cat) that wet paint was not good to eat, lick, or track all over the house. He sniffed at it a bit, decided that he didn't like the smell, and then proceeded to interrupt me over the course of the project for extra pets. Since he was being so good about not interfering, I was glad to oblige (and this really helped recenter me as I dealt with the plastic carpet protectors that actually worked). Finally, I peeled off the blue tape that has been running up my stairwell waiting for me to repaint since I had moved in and voila! It is lovely! Next I am thinking of carrying the sage color from the living room up the lower wall of the stairwell so that the whole wall isn't just cream. Still have to sand the bathroom walls sometime, but this felt really good to finally complete!

mujetdebois out shopping at Borders and then we had a nice sushi lunch. It was good to catch up and see that she really is recovering nicely from her recent surgery. Bonus was that she had brought back excellent chocolate for me from her Paris trip that is finally in my hands. Yum!
