The new students, that is. This week has been chock full of orientation events and classes start next week. It looks like we will have 200 in the traditional medical school class, 40 in the problem based learning curriculum, and 14 incoming Neuro grad students (our largest grad school class ever!) Of those 14, 9 are PhD, 3 are MS, and 2 are MD/PhD candidates. I have it arranged so that I don't do all that much teaching in the Fall, but I do a lot of student advising (which technically counts as teaching service). I also lecture in a few graduate classes and oversee the curriculum. It's not until Dec that my medical school teaching begins. However, I am planning to spend the next few months working on grants and papers (our big spinal cord program project grant is due Oct 1st), preparing for our local research Discovery Day in Oct and the big Neuroscience conference in Nov. And oh yes, I should really figure out a time to take my aborted vacation...
