Fun Night of Bridge
Apr. 19th, 2005 01:31 pmI hosted my bridge club last night for the first time at my new place and it was a success! The club has been around for many years, but has been declining over the last year or two as various members have died or moved away. We used to meet biweekly, and have gone to monthly and there haven't been a lot of new folks joining. So I was quite happy to have a dozen people (three tables) at my place. Of course, their wanting to see my place was probably a draw. I served salad and pizza and we played bridge for several hours. I had several great hands that were very fun to play. Everyone was very complimentary about my place (despite the fact that it is clearly in progress - boxes still to be unpacked, art still to be hung, bathroom still to be redone). I did feel that having spent the weekend cleaning and organizing was very worthwhile. I also got some useful advice on home repair issues. So after the initial frenzy of preparing to host, I had an enjoyable evening.
