Good day at the gym
Jan. 8th, 2005 04:39 pmThis morning my gym buddy and I met with a personal trainer to help create/modify our workout program. Our gym provides a yearly meeting as part of the membership benefits, and we were finally able to schedule one. Our trainer was a tiny woman who turned out to be extremely good! We told her that in addition to the cardio exercise that we were already doing, we wanted to do some core and upperbody work emphasizing full body approach. She showed us the right postures and forms to use the cable machine to work on arms, chest, sides, and back. This looks like it will be a lot better than using the other machines which isolate specific muscle groups. Then she showed us how to improve our form doing various types of crunches and how to increase the difficulty. The funnest thing she showed us was an exercise where we lay opposite each other with our feet connected and crunch up in order to pass a medicine ball back and forth. I felt like I was in training for Cirque Du Soleil !-) We have agreed to go 3-5 times a week and so now we have some things to look forward to doing. We may hire her for a tune up in a couple months to make sure that we haven't drifted to far from the correct forms.
