Glad I Came to Work Today

I've been battling the stomach flu since last Tuesday (when I almost threw up on my boss) and am feeling improved, but not yet recovered. I've been coming in to work when I could pass the tea test (if I can keep a morning cup of tea down, then I can go to work). However, I was very glad to discover a letter in my mailbox at work nominating me for the Golden Apple Teaching Award here at the med school! It goes on to say that I did not receive enough votes to win, but it is definitely an honor to be nominated since the med students see over a hundred professors over the year. I had won this award a few years ago and have been nominated several times, but it is always a thrill when it happens! I also heard that we have done very well with our LCME accreditation which was contributing to the major work stress of last week. This week is spring break for the med students so I am going to try to take it easy. We'll see how that goes.

Congrats on the nomination! You rock!

Many thanks! Given all the high stress things that have been going on, it's nice to have a good one every now and then.

Cool!

And hi!

Hi, yourself! Found you in DnA's LJ. I like your noodle icon (udon, by any chance?)

I think it's ramen, actually. The icon is from http://illustmaker.abi-station.com/index_en.shtml, which I only found a couple weeks ago.

Congrats! (Does the award come from the Hesperides?)

Can we have a Duncan update? Has he been well enough to "take care of" you? (i.e. to take advantage of your nice and toasty feverish body?)

No, no - nor does the Dean who presents it resemble a goddess in any way.

Duncan has been quite confused with my being home so much, but not wanting him to stomp on my poor tummy. Therefore, he has taken to camping out nearby wherever I have been sprawled. He himself is doing well, but exhibiting some worrisome behaviors. While his fur is still growing back, he is shedding an awful lot. He is scratching himself in response, but seems to be concentrating on his upper neck, where the scars from his surgery have not fully healed. Plus he has a wart on the back of hs head that he is scratching at, too. Cat warts are one of the things that predispose to the skin cancer, so i am concerned. The vet had said to bring him in only if it changed. Does scratching at it in the context of dry skin and shedding count? I dunno.

If it makes you feel any better, our guys have started shedding already. So perhaps Duncan's shedding is simply seasonal. (Btw, Fiona is shedding, too. She has a receding hairline and is starting to resemble Napoleon.)
